SCF Manatees Tennis Team
The State College of Florida women's tennis players, the Manatees, collected four national titles while placing second in the team standings at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament in Tyler, Texas.
No. 2 singles player Mariana Palacios, No. 3 singles player Lai Wei, No. 4 singles player Anne-Sophie Porry and the No. 2 doubles team of Wei and Porry won their flights. Each earned NJCAA All-American honors.
Under head coach, Betsy Nagelsen McCormack, the Manatees, are in just their second year of women's tennis.
Nagelsen was ranked the world's top junior in 1973, won the 1973 US Champion Girls' 16 and under singles and also won the USTA Girls' Sportsmanship Award in 1974. 
She won the doubles championship at the 1978 Australian Open with Renata Tomanova and 1980 Australian Open partnering with Martina Navratilova . She reached the singles final of the 1978 Australian Open. 
In her 21 year career on the WTA Tour, Nagelsen captured 26 doubles titles and 4 singles crowns
Betsy has brought her playing skills and continued enthusiasm for tennis and specifically says she enjoys working with younger developing players.
