17-time Grand slam champion Roger Federer is one of the most beloved athletes in the world of sport. His accomplishments in tennis are known by many around the world. He is the only man in history to play in 65 consecutive grand slam tournaments, spend 302 weeks as world No.1 and win 24 consecutive tournament finals. The records are endless, but there are still a few things that might surprise you about the 35-year-old.

According to research conducted by ESPN, Federer is the fifth most popular athlete in the world. The position was worked out based on a formula created by ESPN. The calculation combines a athletes salary and endorsements with social media following and Google search popularity. Only Neymar, Lionel Messi, Lebron James and Cristiano Ronaldo are more popular.
