Now it's my Turn

Our hearts are broken...But our spirits are strong...

A few words about the horrific tragedy that struck the children, families and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

This tragedy has two direct connections to tennis.....and tennis players plus hundreds of millions of other have a direct connections to the sorrow that surrounds this tragic event.

Fmr ATP Tour Chairman and Nike Executive Adam Helfant's niece, Grace McDonnell, was a victim in the Newtown shooting.

"My heart goes out to all those poor children, their families and the community in Newtown in Connecticut, so so sad," Andy Murray wrote on his Wall yesterday.

Murray attended Dunblane Primary School, and was present during the 1996 Dunblane school massacre, when Thomas Hamilton killed 17 people before turning one of his four guns on himself. Murray took cover in a classroom. Murray says he was too young to understand what was happening and is reluctant to talk about it in interviews, but in his autobiography Hitting Back he states that he attended a youth group run by Hamilton, and that his mother gave Hamilton lifts in her car.

Andy spoke of returning to Dunblane in this article in the Daily Record and Sunday Mail. Scotland's largest newspaper published in Glasgow, Scotland, Andy Murray reveals his pride at helping hometown Dunblane to heal.

Our Hearts are broken, but our spirits are strong...keep your thoughts and prayers for the families and friends and the precious little ones...Hug your family members deed, or in words or in thought...but hug them anyway you can...everyone will be better for it..

Today, we must resolve....Never again.....and work to bring the divergent sides together finding someway to prevent this from happening again...
