Now it's my Turn

Stefanie, Andre, Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle

August 15, 2012 | 10:44 AM

She is arguably the finest women's tennis player of all time with 22 Grand Slam titles, a Gold Medal

And now prefers Stefanie (not Steffi) Maria Graf.

Proud mother of Jaden Gil 10 and Jaz Elle 8, she maintains a low profile, generally going public only when she is working for her foundation, Children for Tomorrow, or for children on behalf of Longines, a long time sponsor. The Philosophy of the Foundation is clearly articulated on her website, www.Steffi-Graf.net….

"We all know how important it is to give children love and chances for a better future. Namely those children who are traumatized by bad experiences need our strongest support. Many of them grow up in everyday occurrences of war, violence, abuse, exile or loss of the family.

We all have seen those terrible pictures showing us the material extent of the misery in war zones and trouble spots. But the inner conflicts and wounds caused by violence are not visible. They often lead to new aggressions and circles of violence. The victims of today, not rarely, are the offenders of tomorrow. Mental health of our children is a fundamental requirement of the peaceful living together and a precondition for society's integration processes."

She is married (October 22, 2001) to another tennis great, Andre Kirk Agassi. His main efforts these days are dedicated to children's education through the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. As his website, www.AgassiFoundation.org, succinctly states….

"Together we're transforming public education in the United States through our school in Las Vegas and by influencing state and national policy. Since the inception of the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education in 1994, $177 million dollars has been raised to benefit the mission of the Foundation including $118 million from the Grand Slam for Children fundraising event. Thank you for believing in children and giving them the hope that comes with education."

Often in interviews where Andre is asked if he has any regrets…answers only that he wishes he had started his foundation sooner…….

Recently, CNN delivered an insightfully crafted portrait of both Stefanie and Andre on their tennis careers, their Olympic accomplishments and their family…..We hope you will enjoy….
