Seeds Advance, without Murray, Tsonga

April 20, 2012 | 08:21 PM

It's questionable how much the two minor upsets today enhance the great likelihood of a Rafa-Joker final, but the odds do seem improved by the history:

- NADAL may be more likely to beat Simon (a 7-5, 6-4 winner over Tsonga), as Gilles lacks the weapons Jo has on a good day and hasn't won a set against Rafa in 4 of 5 encounters played outdoors (his one win over Rafa came indoors in late '08 in Madrid, when Rafa's run was over for the year).

- JOKER is 8-1 with Berdych, a 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 winner over Murray, with whom Joker is only 8-5.

Joker v Murray will be LIVE at 7am tomorrow on The Tennis Channel, followed by Simon v Nadal.
