WTA 2011 Player of the Year - Petra Kvitova

The WTA Player of the Year Award for 2011 is the latest title earned by Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova.

The winner of 6 titles, including the season ending WTA Tour Championship, climbed from #34 at the beginning of the year to the #2 position, won Wimbledon, played for the Czech Republic team that won the Fed Cup, and won more than $5 million in prize money.

Kvitova also earned honored two additional awards for Most Improved Player and Sportsmanship.

The WTA named:

Sabine Lisicki, Belgium, as the Comeback Player of the Year

Irina-Camelia Begu, Romania, as the Newcomer of the Year

Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik, Slovenia, won for Doubles Team of the Year.
