$3M earned so far in Istanbul; Final 4 set

October 29, 2011
As the women head into Final Four weekend, several contenders for the #8 spot in London are hard at work gathering points in the Old World. Tsonga and Del Potro are #1 and 2 seeds in St. Pete, one match from a final show down and the 250 points both want. The Frenchman is 0-3 with Delpo and faces unseeded German Brands, while Delpo faces #6 seed Anderson, another big server. A win here would put Tsonga up to #7 and leave Fish the man on the edge.

In Vienna, another last minute point seeker, #2 seed Tipsarevic, is a match away from facing #4 seed Cilic and a chance to add another 250 points to his Race card. Tipso has first to get by Bogomolov, while Cilic, who owns a 5-1 record with Tipso, has the Russian Youzhny. Tipso will move up to #9 with a Vienna waltz through the final.

ISTANBUL: The first few million carved up after RR

Kvitova continued her winning ways, coming back from 1-5 in the 1st to beat the Hingis-like Radwanska 7-6, 6-3, who makes every match last until the end with her combination of speed and guile. It took the Czech champ nearly 50 winners to finish off the quiet stoic from Krakow, with that many and then some more errors strewn along the way with yelps and bird like screeches. Tomorrow morning - 8 AM for you early birds - Petra will have to do it again against Slammin' Sam from Dune Unda. Petra is the favorite to win it all by a wide margin on Betfair, with Azarenka a close second. Vicky has been able to handle Vera in their two matches this year.

Here's how $3M+ of bonus money is allotted so far:

$485,000 each to the 4 semi-finalists (Kvitova, Azarenka, Stosur and Zvonareva)

$225,000 to Radwanska, Wozniacki, Li and Bartoli (one win each)

$110,000 to Sharapova (no wins)
